Ullensvang is a well known fruit farming area. Fruit blossom in May is legendary, when thousands of trees are white in bloom. Farm shops, guided visits and taste of local produce is offered several palces. Do not miss the Cherry Festival in July!

Monks of the Cistercian Order introduced fruit growing to Ullenvsvang in the Middle Ages when a grange was etablished in Opedal. Today cherries, plums, pears and apples are cultivated on the slopes along the Hardangerfjord. The Cherry Festival in July is an important local happening in the cherry season, celebrating not just the fruit, but also beeing an important social event for the locals. During harvest there are many self service fruit stalls along the roads. Everybody is welcome to buy products by taking the fruit they like and leave payment, according to the price list in the box.
